[School Festival Project Blog]

Posted by: Kenta (Project Leader) Date: October 15, 2025

Our school festival is just two weeks away! As the leader, I have been trying to manage everything from the stage schedule to the food stalls. At first, it was like a chaotic storm. I felt like I was losing my grip on the project.

However, my teacher gave me some advice. She said, “Don't just give orders from a distance. You need a ‘hands-on’ approach.” I started to talk to each member directly and helped them with their tasks. Now, I feel I have finally handled the situation. It’s no longer a mess; I can finally see the big picture.

Great job, Kenta! In Japanese, we use the word “把握 (ha-aku)” or “掌握 (sho-aku)” for what you are doing. Both words include the radical 「扌」 (hand). Just like a rider using reins to control a horse, you are now using your “hands” to guide the team to success. Keep it up!

問 Which of the following best describes Kenta’s change in his project management?

  1. He decided to stop working and started to give orders to other members.

  2. He began to control the project more effectively by getting directly involved.

  3. He realized that the project was too big for him to handle with his own hands.

  4. He changed the theme of the school festival from “Horses” to “Hands.”
